Soft hands. Considered care.
Quiet luxury for a nail studio that deserves more than rose gold gradients and Instagram clichés.
A nail studio in Western Sydney that has been running on Instagram bookings for three years and now wants a real home base. The owner's vibe is calm, considered, almost spa-like. Not the loud pinks and gold-foil look most nail salons go for. The site needs to reflect that and convert phone scrollers into bookings.
The typefaces.
A two-typeface system. One for personality, one for utility. Both pulled from Google Fonts, both load in under 100ms on a 4G connection.
An italic serif at large size, set tightly, gives the editorial calm of a small magazine. Soft, but considered, never floral.
Light-weight sans pairs against the italic display without competing. Service descriptions feel airy and intentional.
Five colours.
A palette tight enough to be unmistakable, broad enough to handle every layout the site will need. Tested at WCAG AA contrast against the body copy.
The layout.
Four key moments on the homepage. Each does one job, set in the order most visitors will need them.
The wordmark is typeset, not a graphic logo. Quiet italic serif that costs nothing to render and looks impeccable at every size.
Soft rounded cards in dusty pinks and cream, each with a service name, treatment time, and starting price. Photos optional, type-led.
The studio's existing Fresha account embedded inline. No double-data-entry, the calendar stays the source of truth.
Live grid of recent work imported from the studio's Instagram. Real proof of craft, automatically up to date.
The full homepage.
What I would do for a real client.
This case study is a design concept. If we built it for an actual beauty business, here is how the work would extend.
A short manifesto from the owner about why the studio exists. Two paragraphs. Beauty businesses sell trust; the owner's voice does it better than corporate copy.
Stock photos of nail polish bottles. Gone. Real work, shot with consistency, or no images at all. Nothing erodes a beauty brand faster than generic stock.
Subtle scroll-driven fade-ins for service cards, on the right side of restraint. Soft, never bouncy. Reduced-motion respected.
